Packet
Shaper is the bandwidth-management solution that brings
predictable, efficient performance to applications running over
enterprise wide-area networks (WANs) and the Internet. With PacketShaper,
you can control performance to suit applications’ characteristics,
business’ requirements, and users’ needs. It offers
a four-step process to manage applications performance: it detects
and classifies network applications, analyzes network behavior,
enforces policy-based bandwidth allocation, and reports on application
performance.

An
assortment of PacketShaper models brings application-based bandwidth
management to a variety of environments. The PacketShaper
1500 Series is the platform designed for
small branch offices and remote sites. The PacketShaper
2500 Series handles large branch offices or mid-sized corporate
data centers. The PacketShaper 4500 Series is a
high-performance platform for larger sites such as corporate data
centers. The PacketShaper 6500 Series is the highest
capacity platform intended for the largest data centers. The PacketShaper
8500 Series, a gigabit Ethernet-based system that provides
application-intelligent bandwidth management at OC-3 speeds (155
Mb/s) and higher, is specifically designed to be deployed in service
provider hosting centers and POPs. The latest box in the series
also adds multiprotocol label switching support. can handle up to
5000 customers per unit, spots and classifies application traffic,
analyzes its performance and then enforces bandwidth allocation
and QOS. PacketShaper 9500, a highly-scalable traffic
management system offering application-layer visibility and control
of more than 500 applications at speeds up to 500Mbps full-duplex
or 1Gbps asymmetric. The new platform also features data compression
at speeds up to 45Mbps and automatically establishes and manages
as many as 300 compression tunnels to other compression-enabled
Packeteer devices. |
